Waskesiu's One-Eyed Wonder
Waskesiu's One-Eyed Wonder
Prince Albert National Park, SK
I have observed and photographed this one-eyed fox for many years. She is well known to the locals, and is often spotted along the road to the Narrows on Waskesiu Lake. Foxes are agile hunters in the forest, but a collision with a branch when she was hunting could be the reason for losing an eye – either that, or a spat with another fox. Despite her partial blindness, this amazing vixen has raised many young over the years. A story of “resilience” and “wander” makes her a local legend!
