Midnight at Moraine
Moraine Lake, Alberta
As the moon moved behind the mountains surrounding Moraine Lake, the light highlighted the mountains and made it possible to showcase the beautiful night sky and Milky Way. This was my first experience with Astro photography, specifically photographing the Milky Way and I loved it! The sun and all of the planets surrounding it are part of the Milky Way galaxy. A galaxy is a large group of stars, gas, and dust bound together by gravity. The name "Milky" comes from the fact that it looks like a milky band of light in the sky, as the individual stars cannot be distinguished by the naked eye.
