This image of a young wolf cub was captured in Prince Albert National Park. He had another black coloured sibling, as well as one with salt and pepper colouring (pictured on the cover of ‘Calling’ book). I had the good fortune to actually hear these little cubs howling in the distance. Well, I howled in return and walked in their direction. I came to an open meadow, sat on the edge, and let out another wolf call. To my surprise, the cubs bounced out of the forest and into the meadow. I think they had been sitting there so the wind would give them some relief of the mosquitoes, some of which you can see in the photo. It was quite an encounter and I titled this little fellow “Forest Shadow”. With his dark coat, this pup disappeared easily into the shadows of the forest.
