This scene couldn’t be more surreal. Jasper National Park’s Spirit Island on Maligne Lake is like the soul of the Canadian Rockies. I spent the entire night with Spirit Island and watched as the Milky Way revealed itself as the darkness fell. This is one single image that captured the calm and peace of the night accented with distant stars, dust and gas – the wonderment of an entity with between 100 billion and 400 billion other stars.
