Best Paw Forward
Nunavut
At a polar bear camp in Nunavut, I came across this Arctic fox. These curious and gentle creatures are a welcome sight in the North. Often, during my Arctic adventures, I focused on the Arctic fox when the weather was harsh or polar bears were scarce. The dense fur and counter-current blood flow of these hardy creatures allow them to survive temperatures below minus fifty Celsius, unlike their red fox cousins. Arctic Foxes truly put their “best paw forward” in dealing with their harsh environment.
