I captured this image while I volunteered on a research project. The study was related to the examination of the impact of diamond mining in Canada’s central arctic region on the local wolf population. This pup was one of five in a litter that had been left alone while the parents were gone hunting; it was the only one that ventured out of the den to take a closer look at a friend and me.
