It was fall. I was in Banff. And here on a crab apple tree was a cinnamon-colored black bear. Like all bears, he was bulking up for hibernation, and fruit trees are irresistible, even if they are in a townsite! It makes sense that the local community has now launched a program to remove these fruity temptations to ensure the safety of both bears and humans.
