Winter's Scarlet

A wonderful collector of mine had been very welcoming to share her home which backs by the Humber River. Although in an urban environment, it is common for her to see deer, raccoons, and many bird species in her yard. It was a beautiful snowy morning in Toronto as I waited and photographed this beautiful male cardinal in a Canadian winter scene. Only male cardinals wear this red plumage, the bright colour is key for their mating success.
