On the Prowl

As I trekked into the forest in early February, little did I think about the start of the breeding season for lynx. However, as I hiked through the bush I heard what I thought could be the sound of a pair of lynx traveling together in the forest. I was full of anticipation as I slowly moved in their direction and their unique meow became more pronounced. I came to an opening in the forest; there were light willows and a lot of snowshoe hare tracks – a great spot to catch these lynx hunting for an afternoon meal. I hunkered down and hid in the willows - and was rewarded with a great encounter: this lynx “On the Prowl” with its partner!
