Heir to the Throne
Off Vancouver Island, British Columbia
This sea lion was lounging on the tocks off the coast of Vancouver Island with many others. They were soaking up the warm morning sun. It is common sight to see dozens or even hundreds of these sea mammals relaxing together on the land. This on had assumed a more regal pose then the others, almost as though he wanted to have his picture taken! Sealions are known to be highly intelligent and are frequently training by humans in captivity. Their ability to walk on all four flippers is what set them apart from seals and other aquatic mammals.
