Sugar and Spice
Prince Albert National Park, Saskatchewan
This family of bears consisted of 2 black cubs and one cinnamon cub. I had observed them over several days from the safety of my vehicle. Mother bear was usually feeding on grasses, while the cubs were playing in dense forest, not allowing an opportunity for photography. On this particular day, mother bear charged towards my vehicle, but to my surprise was not threatened by me, but by something deeper in the forest. Her cubs instinctually climbed up a tree immediately for safety. For over 15 minutes mother bear was gone while her cubs whined and longed for her return. The photography opportunity was amazing, but I was very anxious not knowing the fate of mom. I was very happy to see her safe return shortly after!
