Colourful Relationship

Canadian Rocky Mountains, Alberta

Abraham Lake in the Canadian Rockies floods annually due to human causes. This flooding has created unique situations in the ecosystem. In this image, mature trees that normally would be on land are surrounded by the flood waters. The relationship between the waters and the vegetation creates methane bubbles in the winter which can be seen in the frozen ice on Abraham Lake. Ecosystems are connected through all non-living and living components, each impacting the other. This image is a colourful representation of that relationship. Our own human relationships/ecosystems consist of colour and life as well, hence a fitting image for all of us!
