Trekking in the Rockies
Jasper National Park, Alberta
I first spotted these black bear cubs feeding their mother along the Icefields Parkway in Jasper National Park. Their mother was quite shy and mov ed the cubs deeper into the forest when several other vehicles stopped to watch them. I was confident that when the road got quiet again the bear would return to feed on the new green grass in the ditch so I waited quietly. My prediction was correct and shortly thereafter the family returned. I got to spend close to twenty minutes with the bears while mom grazed and the cubs scampered along behind her.
