The Return
Elk Island National Park, Alberta
It was an extremely cold and stormy day in Alberta when I came across this herd of sleeping bison. It was amazing to see these giants covered in snow, looking almost lifeless as they protected themselves from the weather. What a beautiful sight to see this large bull get up and shake the snow off of himself. He was still covered with snow, as it sticks to their very thick fur. I stayed at a safe distance, as bison are the largest terrestrial mammal in North America, and was able to leave the herd undisturbed.
