Taking Off
Homer, Alaska
I enjoyed a full two weeks of photographing bald eagles near Homer, Alaska. Jean Keene has taken it upon herself to help the eagles out each winter, increasing winter survival. She began this program over forty years ago when the bald headed eagle was endangered, and has continued it till present. During the late afternoons a fellow photographer and I would head out near the ocean coast to an area where many eagles would rest. I captured this eagle taking off of a small ice floe as it headed out to fish!
