Evening Hover

This partially silhouetted photograph is of a ruby-throated hummingbird suckling on Delphiniums. I waited for many nights to capture this image, having my camera set on a specific clump of Delphinium flowers. I found this to be the best method for capturing the image, given the quick and almost random movements of hummingbirds. After researching their biology, I found out that their wings beat 55x/second when hovering.
