Elegance
Wakaw Lake, Saskatchewan
Prairie plants have adapted to the rigours of drought and wind, and flourish in the bountiful moisture of spring.
Lush fields of crocuses announce spring's arrival. I go annually with my family to a specific pasture near the creek at Wakaw Lake to view this spectacular sight. This photograph gives a different perspective, up close and personal. Note the fine hairs on the stem of the crocus plant. This is an adaptation which helps protect the plant from the drying winds on the prairies.
